Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television

The Canadian Academy wanted to refresh their current brand spot to demonstrate that the Academy is more than just an awards show; that it is a thriving arts organization with several talent development initiatives. The current brand spot contained too much information in an unfocused way. The only hurdle was that there was a very limited archive from which to pull footage. So rather than relying on stock footage, I constructed a script that revolved around Canadian content itself. Voiced by Canadian icon Catherine O’Hara, and launching at the Canadian Screen Awards, the new brand spot focused on telling a story about why the work the Academy does matters, in a visually engaging way.
